An accurate contact lens fitting is additional to a routine eye exam.
The appropriate contact lens prescription will not only include a contact lens power which can vary slightly to a spectacle prescription but also requires a contact lens base curve and diameter. The latter are measured by an instrument called a keratometer.
It is a machine which measures the curvature of the front of the eye named the cornea.
Subsequently, these measurements will be utilized for determining the proper curve and size for the contact lenses.
